Crafty Gals Corner Challenge #87 8/31/16

It's Anything Goes Challenge  this week over at
Our sponsors this week are:

Prize: 3 Digital Images

Prize: 3 Digital Images
What do I like about Anything Goes? I can make any project! Right now, I'm making more Christmas cards, so this was perfect for me! Here is my project for this week:
My image for this week is Hipster Winter Girl from SLS Lines. I used paper I had in my stash. And of course, my Prismacolors to color my image. The first thing I always do is to color my image. Then I can pick my papers. It's very rare that I pick my papers first.

Once I had colored her, I set to adding the "bling" to her...gotta have that bling! So out came my texture past I bought from Reneabouquets. I spread some of that around her feet so it would give it more of a "snowy" effect. Then I sprinkled fine glitter on it. I then got my Glossy Accents out and spread it over the snowflakes, sprinkling all those with the same glitter.  I added the Glossy Accents to her eyeglasses so they'd look more like glass, and some on her buttons and boots. Here's a little tip: Be sure to spread the accents onto the areas where you want your glitter (or whatever you want) BEFORE adding the accents onto areas you DON'T want glitter. Otherwise, you might end up with glittery eyeglass lens! And I certainly didn't want that! (You learn from your mistakes, right? *wink*)

I took a piece of red and white striped Christmas paper and cut it to the same size of my image piece. I angled that underneath her (once everything was dry). I then mounted that onto a black piece of cardstock, and then onto the black and silver glittered cardstock. I didn't want any white showing, so I mounted all that onto a piece of white, making sure that the front was the same size as my final mounting.

It's a CAS (Clean and Simple) card, but with all the glitter, I didn't want it to look "bulky". I hope you enjoyed this project and that you will join us in on the challenge! I LOVE looking at all the wonderful creations....plus, I get ideas from you, too!

Outlawz Color Challenge August 30th

Hello once again, crafters!! I bring you this week's DT challenge project from the Outlawz Color Challenge blog! Today, I used the Stella Facebook Birthday digital from Bugaboo Stamps. Here is the challenge photo inspiration:
I used the Pink, Orange, and Blue colors. This week's twist is: Lace. (I LOVE lace!) Today, I'm just showing you my project, because I got the idea from Christina Griffiths YouTube channel. This lady has some wonderful cards she has made and great tutorials! So please check her out on how to make this card.

I will tell you that I used papers from my stash and my Prismacolors (of course!). I'm honestly not sure where I got my lace, however. But, without further adieu, here is my project:

Please be sure to join us for this week's challenge. There's always a great giveaway!

Paper Temptress Japanese Screen

Hello, fellow crafty peeps! Today I want to share with you my project, a Japanese Screen...in miniature version, of course! I used all Paper Temptress paper. I bought the wooden screen at Hobby Lobby with my 40% coupon (gotta love that!). I knew I wanted them to be black, of course, and I already had plans on what I was going to use as the "screen". So, I was quite excited to get started. Usually when I use a digital on a project, I color it first. But this time I needed to do my painting so it could be drying while I was coloring.

I had already bought a small bottle of chalk paint. At the time, I had no clue what I was going to use it with, but when I saw the screen, I knew it would work great on the wood. After painting it with the first coat, I began my coloring using a digital by MoonFlowerDigiStamps called Sakura Maiden. By the time I was able to get back to my screen, it was dried enough so that I could put on the 2nd coat of paint. I then got my Heavy Weight Vellum out, measured the openings for the background of the dogwoods, and cut them out. My first thought was, "What do I use to attach them to the screen?" Well, I have to say....while some may totally do it differently, for me it was time to get my Mod Podge out. I spread it on the back of the dogwoods and proceeded to lay each vellum piece down. TIP: I found that NOT putting mod podge on the paper worked much better than on the paper itself. How do I know? Oh, the mess I made doing it, that's how! ;-) I hot glued small beaded trim around the edges of the paper to help stabilize the paper. My next step was to put mod podge all around the black to give the chalk a sealant.

I used Re-entry RedEclipse Black, and Silver Lustre to make my flowers and cut pieces of the black beads for the centers of my flowers. So, it was time to decorate. I glued my embellishments on with the mod podge, including my digital, Antique White Wings butterflies I cut out, the Japanese lettering which I also cut out, and all the other embellishments. I used the Emeraude for the leaves. Again, everything was sealed, including the digital, with Mod Podge as a sealant. I'm thinking of perhaps using Mod Podge acrylic spray sealant on it also...I also used Diamond Glass Glitter and the red/black butterflies from Reneabouquets to accent parts of the digital ounitfit and bottom flowers, putting them on with Glossy Accents. Here is my project:
I hope you enjoy this project! Please join us! Every day there's a new designer with a new project! And be sure to visit us on the Facebook page!

Crafty Gals Corner - Emboss It! (8/24/16)

Hello, Crafters! Today marks another new week for the Crafty Gals Corner Challenges! This week the challenge is Emboss IT!
Our sponsor this week is:
Nikki Burnette

So, for my project this week, I chose the digital Shelby V.2.  Of course, as always, I always use Prismacolors and printed my image out onto white cardstock. Before I mounted her onto a mat, I took a piece of plain white cardstock and ran it through my Big Shots machine to emboss. Then I took my Versamark pad and rubbed it all over that mat and put Ranger Pale Gold embossing powder on it, shook off the excess, and heated it up with my heat gun. So, I had 2 embossing techniques on that mat. I then placed it onto a blue vellum-like paper I got from Paper Temptress. I stamped the sentiment on the blue paper with Versamark and used Zing Copper embossing powder on it. That was placed onto some orange cardstock I had in my stash. (Before I forget, I did distress all the edges except for the blue paper with TH Rusty Hinge distress ink. I also distressed the little flowers.) I also used clear embossing powder on the fairy wings and the shell of the snail (more embossing!). Wink of Stella clear was used to give a little shine onto her lips, shoes, clothes....I embellished the card with a large bow, large flower on top of a die cut, pearls, lace, and tiny roses. Here is my completed card:
Nikki Burnette - Shelby
I know this is a large photo, but I wanted to be sure you see her eyes and the bits of shine on this card. I hope you join us for the challenges this week! Lots of fun and there are prizes!

Now onto my 2nd project. This project is from The Paper Shelter and my image is Cirque. Be sure to check out this website too.....you can get colored and uncolored images, plus the paper! I had a lot of fun with her! So, I printed out both the colored background and the colored image, cut her out, placed her on top of the background after I had embossed it, placed it on top of orange cardstock, distressed both the background and the orange cardstock, added distressed tiny roses, Diamond Glass Glitter from Reneabouquets, rhinestones, and pearl drops. It was so fun and easy to do!
Again, be sure to enter into our challenge this week. And have a lot of fun with it! We love seeing all the talent out there!

Outlawz Color Challenge - August 23rd

We have a new COLOR CHALLENGE over at the Outlawz! This week  we took the Olympian colors as our inspirations. Here is the photo:
Wow! The colors are awesome, aren't they? I used the Little Penguins Winter Bench by Bugaboo Stamps. Aren't they just adorable? And hey...it's not too early to get those Christmas cards started, either. I probably should have started mine in January! Ha!

Of course I always start my project by coloring in the digital with my Prismacolors. I didn't cut around the edge of the digital; rather, I just cut a square around the digital, used decorative scissors and TH distressing tool around the perimeter to give it a worn edge. A mat under that, with a little bit of yellow and blue trim, and then placed onto the white foundation cardstock, and giving the Christmassy "shine" to it, and ouila! I was done!  It was such a fun card to do!

Be sure to head on over to the Outlawz Color Challenge and enter your creation! It can be anything, as long as you use the Olympian colors.

The Scrapoholic Candy Shop DT Project

Today I want to share with you another new release from The Scrapoholic Candy Shop. I love this image...plus there's a lot of extra "pieces" to go along with it, so you can pick and choose which one(s) you want to use! Here is the link to the digital I used for today's project: Our WeddingNow on to my card!

I used basic white cardstock to download my image onto, and colored it with my Prismacolors. I'm a big fan of Prismacolors. After I finished coloring it, I mounted it onto yellow, then red cardstock. Then used white cardstock as my foundation. The flowers on the bottom left are very light, but they're also very tiny. I edged the red cardstock with a gold/black "ribbon" I got from the Lighthouse stop n' shop via Facebook page. After all that, I used Glossy Accents to put in some of Reneabouquets Diamond Glass Glitter onto the veil, and Stickles Diamond onto the "diamond" of the ring. Pearls were added in 3 corners and a little sentiment at the top.

Stop by The SCS today! There's a great sale going on through the end of this month! Let's see what you create!

"Heather Valentin  is  creative ,  award winning,  modern-day  fantasy and  whimsical  artist who has displayed a dynamic and vibrant energy while painting professionally for over 18 years.
She  began to express herself creatively through movement at a very young age.
For many years she studied dance, being drawn to forms that allowed creative self expression, all the while feeling this constant urge to create with her hands. The canvas is now her dance floor where color, beauty and drama are expressed through her every pencil sketch and  brush stroke. Her  subjects vary from fairies, fantasy, mermaids, vampires, dragons, wildlife, abstract and more. She is one who is inspired in a single moment. Her  dreams, moods and the the unfolding beauty of the world around her is what charts her dance for the day. Hello, everyone! Today I'll be sharing with you not 1, but 2 challenges from Crafty Gals Corner! So be sure to check CGC #84 on my blog, too. We had a week of rest, now it's time to post these challenges! And as always, my fellow teammies have outdone themselves!

I used the Princess image from Jiggery Maker. She's so cute! I wasn't sure about doing another tag, since the other one seemed fitting for a tag. However, I did do another one....but this one is an oversized tag.

I went to Phyllis Fernandez - YouTube channel for some inspiration. Although my outcome is much different, (and hers are so elegant and lovely!), my inspiration did come from her. Be sure to check her out! I did cut out my tag foundation out of chipboard, and Christmas paper I had bought from Scrapbookingwithme Boutique a couple years ago. I don't remember the name of it, however.

I also took her idea and did all my texture paste, sprays, etc., onto the paper before gluing it to the chipboard. I used some Tim Holtz stencils to mimic "snow", embossing powders on the image after coloring her, and used the Stamp n Bond with white glitter on the sentiment "Merry Christmas". The butterflies are the Snow White Butterflies from Reneabouquets. I dry embossed the clock with a Cuttlebug embossing folder, used Versamark on the outline and numbers, and then copper embossing powder. I used other embellishments and used lace on the bottom.

Please be sure to check out our 2 challenges!!! Pick one or both to do! And have fun!

Crafty Gals Corner Challenges #84

We have begun a new challenge today! This week the challenge over at Crafty Gals Corner Challenges is a Bingo Challenge #3! So what does that mean? It means you take 3 items, one of which includes the middle square (Hand Colored Digi), and go vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. For instance, I went from top left to bottom right, which made my items some flowers, a digi, and some pearls. My image was the Chastity Steampunk from Scrapper's Delight. I'm more of a shabby chic kind of gal, but I did have fun "getting outside of my box", without getting out of my "crafty zone". I had fun creating the background...I love mixed media anyway! Below you'll see our Bingo Challenge, and also our sponsor with link.

Our sponsor this week is:
Prize: 3 Digital Images

Now it's time for me to show you what I did, and I do hope you enjoy it! Here it is:

Here is a close-up:

I wanted to show you the close up so you'll see some of the textured background a little better. I used chipboard, covered it with Gesso, then used Tim Holts flowers and burlap stencils. Before I put on the embellishments, I brushed Gesso on them. Then I hot glued them onto the tag before I placed my image on it. I sprayed various colors (greens, reds, purple) of mists onto them, most of which were homemade. I was gifted some Ranger Perfect Pearls Bronze by someone, so I figured they'd be "perfect" for this tag! (*wink*) Everything, including the pearls, were bronzed. The only thing I didn't do with the pearls was to spray them with the mists. These were actually gray pearls I covered with the bronze.

My loop for hanging the tag was made from a pink rose/pearl ribbon. I just used some black Glimmer Mist on both sides and let it dry. I was afraid it wouldn't work right, but it came out great!

I hope you join us this week over at Crafty Gals Corner! Let's see what you created!

Outlawz Color Challenge August 16th

There's a new Challenge going on over in blogtown...The Outlawz Color Challenge, that is! And Bugaboo Stamps are sponsoring us! Here is our inspirational photo. Use the colors of gray, blue, and pink....what's the twist, you ask? Make it a Fancy Fold card! Any color of gray, blues, and pinks in here. Of course, other colors are allowed, but those are the 3 that have to stand out the most. :-)

So what did I end up doing, anyway? I decided on using the Spring Boot, and making a pocket tag card. Here it is:
This is with the "cover" showing

Here you can see the tags better

I got the idea from Splitcoaster Stampers here. So, rather than telling you how I did the folds, please go to that link, as the credit goes to the lady who did this.

All the paper is from Creative Memories when I was a consultant a few years ago. Once again, I used my Prismacolors. I LOVE those...but a word of advice...be sure they are the soft led. Anyway, that works better for me. I used a lot of Glossy Accents on this, because I wanted the boot to "shine" out. I also used a lot of stickles too. Boy! Was my hand tired! Lol!

Please be sure to go to the blog, enter our challenge, and let's see your creation! It doesn't have to be a card! Just as long as you follow the guidelines. Thanks for stopping by!

ATC Cards Using Paper Temptress Scraps

Hello, crafty peeps! Today I thought I'd share something a little different from what I normally do. Making ATCs and using up scraps! (Which I should do more often!   :-D )  I got the inspiration for this from a YouTube tutorial by Elena S. Although I've done ATCs before, this one was a little different from my previous ATCs. So, to get the full "how-to's" on it, please go to her channel. Mine are somewhat different, of course, but she deserves the credit.

All the papers were completely from my Paper Temptress stash...every bit! I used scraps of: Silver Lustre PackageScriptease paper, and the Basis paper pack. Since they were scraps, I didn't mind using them.  ;-) Here are my completed cards:

So, have some fun with this! Use your scraps up and show us your creations!

The Scrapoholic Candy Shop DT Project

Happy Thursday, crafters! I'm so excited to share with you a new digital release by The Scrapoholic Candy Shop owner, Amanda! Go to the shop, click New Releases, and you'll see a few new "faces" there. Here is the link to the one I did, Ice Cream Bears. I love the new images. They are adorable. I had a hard time figuring out which one I wanted to pick.
Normally, I would color my girl bear a lighter brown or something more pale, but I had some pens I wanted to try out, just to see if I could work with them. I've never done a project with just pens before. After I colored the images (see the Sprinkles jar?), I used clear Wink of Stella all over the pieces, except where I used metallic pens. Then I cut her and the jar out, placed her on white cardstock, and placed that onto a piece of printed pink cardstock from my stash. I then got my card base and placed everything onto it. The sprinkles jar is slightly angled. I had some chalk cardstock also in my stash, and found the word Celebrate. The rest of the sentiment was printed on white cardstock. I used Glass Glitter from Gone Artsy. She has a lot of great items at a great price!

I hope you visit The Scrapoholic Candy Shop, and visit the blog for some DT inspiration! Also visit us on our Facebook page, and show us what you created!

This week (and last week's) the Crafty Gals Corner Challenges (#83) is Birthday's/Celebrate!
Our sponsors this week are:
Prize: 3 Digital Images
Prize:1 Digital Image
Ching-Chou Kuik was born in 1979 at Pantai Remis, Perak, Malaysia . She lived in Malaysia, and moved to Taiwan at age of 19, to pursuit her fine art education at National Taiwan Normal University.

In 2003, she graduated with a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts (painting).

While in Taipei, Ching-Chou enjoyed being an art teacher for young children from age three to twelve. The originality of the youngsters' pieces inspires her and brings enthusiasm and creativity to her works. Ching-Chou moved to Seattle with her husband in 2005, and a mother to a boy.
Ching-Chou became a full-time artist and share her art with others since Mar 2006.

Here is my project card for this week using Coco Marshmallow Fae

I really wish you could see all the glitter and shininess to this card! It really pops in person. I used Heavenly White #80 from Paper Temptress for both the card base and to print/color my image. I cut her out and layered her onto a sheet of Aqua and Olive from the Basis package. Lots of colors to choose from, but I'm already almost out!
I then embossed some wooden snowflakes with Ranger Snowflake embossing powder I got from Reneabouquets. All the snowflakes shown on the card were gifted to me in a Pocket Letter I had received. I had a Here's to You sentiment to the right side, added a bow with a handmade embellishment on top of the bow, and red lace to the left with iridescent pearl trim. I then took stickles to the wings, her jacket, marshmallows, snowflakes on cup, and a little on the sentiment. The red beads on the bottom right are made from a hot glue gun my grandson had done for me. I just added stickles on top of that after I had used DecoArt metallic red on them.

I hope you join in our challenge this week! Great gifts just might head your way!

Outlawz Color Challenge August 9th

Time for another Color Challenge over at the OutlawzThe Color Challenge is sponsored by Bugaboo StampsThe Prize for this month will be a $10 GC for Raspberry Road Designs.
Here is this week's challenge board:
I absolutely love these colors! I can't believe I even had some paper that I could work with the ONE Prismacolor that I had! It was actually an aquamarine that I just darkened and ouila! It was great! Here is my card for this week:
My other 2 colors were the yellow and a red-orange in the inspiration photo. It's really a clean and simple card. I put 2 tones into the flower and outlined the "leafy"? part with the yellow, but I got outside of the lines on those intentionally so the yellow could be see there. My twist on the project is the Diamond Glass Glitter and Butterfly I buy from Reneabouquets after I had layered my digital onto a mat of yellow, then the teal foundation base.

The color challenges are always so fun to do! I really love doing these! I hope you come and join us there! Let's see what you did with the colors you choose!

CAS Outlawz Challenge

Hello, crafters! Today I want to share with you a challenge I entered over at the Outlawz website blog. I'm a DT with the Outlawz Color Challenge, but when I saw this free digital Teresa Arsenault in the Outlawz Clean and Simple challenge, I just had to use it! It's been a long time since I colored realistic dogs. I used to draw and color my own, but like I said, it's been a while. I used digital papers from Scribbles Designs while I served a term with TTCRD, and the colors went perfectly with the colors of the dog! So, being a CAS card, all I had to do was color the picture (I used Heavenly White #80 from Paper Temptress), print out the digital, add a simple sentiment, and it was done! That's what I like about CAS...clean and simple....quick! Here is my card:

I hope you enter in the challenge too! If you're looking for something quick, this is it!

The Scrapoholic Candy Shop

It's Just Plane Cute!  I love this adorable image from The Scrapoholic Candy Shop! And what's more, it comes prepared with sentiments! Some days, I need help with those sentiments, and this just happened to be one of those times!
I kept this one pretty CAS. I used a cloud designer paper from my stash, plus red and white cardstock. The white, of course, for my digital. Once again, I used my Prismacolors. I love those! I added a few stars in the sky, added some glossy accents, and my card was finished. I'll send this card to someone who needs a little pick me up.

Stop by the SCS blog and look over all the posts for inspiration! And don't forget to show us what you've created on the SCS Facebook page, too! We want to see it!

Outlawz Color Challenge

Outlawz Color Challenge Week of August 2nd
Hello, fellow crafters! So today we start a new week of a Color Challenge! TIC-TAC-TOE! I love the those and the Bingo ones. Gets the juices flowing! (*wink*)

The Color Challenge is sponsored by Bugaboo StampsThe Prize for this month will be a $10 GC for Raspberry Road Designs.
Here is this week's challenge board:

For my card, I went from top right to bottom left (diagonally), so that meant I needed Red, Black, Lace, and Yellow. I wasn't sure if the colors would work for what I was going to do. I used the Frame It digital. It seems lately a lot of people have been sick, or some other major issue going on. So, I wanted to make a card for someone special. Here is my card:

I used card stock I had already in my stash for the layers, and also for the image. I usually always plan on the size of the image I want to make first, depending it on what the image is and what I am planning to use it for. Sometimes, I just wing it and go with whatever size I printed, and it works! And you usually can't go wrong with cards or tags!

After I colored the image with the Prismacolors, using the image's "frame" as my first red "mat", I followed up with a layer of yellow, "another" red, a black, then made the card foundation out of white. Because the word "Lace" was in with the black on the board, I decided to go along with black lace first. I then layered red lace on top of that and added light yellow pearl drops, then added red and yellow roses on the right side of the card. This image is probably one of my very favorites from Bugaboo. I love how the shadows are already in there to help guide with my coloring shadows!

I hope you join us in this week's Color Challenge!

Paper Temptress DT Mixed Media

Hello, everyone! Jeanie, DT here with another Paper Temptress project! I wanted to work with the overlays and heavy weight papers to make a mixed media project this time. So...although I really hate wasting my very good paper, sometimes you just have to take a chance and go with your gut. :-D Here is my project:

I used the Heavenly White paper for my background canvas, then tore bits of scraps of the PT paper I had, such as the Frame Wallpaper (I used both sides and tore paper, mod-podging them onto the white), Scriptease, and Black Peacock Feathers. I'm not sure if that's still available, but here is a link to it in Gold. I also put a Mandarin Red with gold edge ribbon on the left side of the paper.
Then I proceeded to layer the Raffle Leaf Screen Print over that,  then the Wings Screen Print on top of that. I added more of the Mandarin Red on top of some lace and pearls, doily ribbon from Gone Artsy , leaf applique, and the 2 rhinestone/pearls on each side, then the doily with iridescent pearls down the center. The beautiful butterfly applique is from KPKre8tions. I added various  embellishments. I added Green Cord Ribbon at the top left and right sides.
I hope you enjoy this project! As you can see, there's a lot of things you can make with PT paper and products!
Blessings, Jeanie Ellis - Scrapbookingmamaw
