From Dresser to Craft Room Storage

Hi everyone! I'm so glad you stopped in! I wanted to share a furniture project with you today. Turning a bedroom dresser into a craft room storage unit!

My husband and I have been wanting to buy base cabinets for my craft room. But they're so expensive! One day, while I was mulling around with thoughts like "what can we do instead" in my head, the thought occurred to me that we have this old dresser in our garage, collecting dust. That's when it struck me...make it into a storage unit!

So I presented the idea to my husband, and he went into recycling mode. Here is a "before" photo of the piece. You can see it was being used for...nothing except to collect dust and hold those items you just haven't thrown away yet. Sad, but true. There's more to that story, though! Lol

Now here is a photo after he took off the handles, sanded the unit, filled in the holes, and sanded down those areas.

The next step was to prime and then paint the piece. He bought these black handles from Lowe's (love them!) and added them to the "new" unit. While I don't have a picture of that stage, here is one right after it was done. Now it was time to bring it in! Believe me... that took some maneuvering on our part!

Once it was moved in and placed where we wanted it, I had the "brilliant" idea of putting some Dollar Tree self-adhesive shelf paper on it. If not for my husband's help, I think I would have quit. Thank you hubby!

Here is the finished project:

Now I know this isn't a detailed how to posting, but I honestly didn't think about blogging it until today. So I thought I'd go ahead and share with you what a great job he did and how proud I am of hubby!

Thank you so much for dropping in!

Blessings,
Jeanie Ellis

Materials from Lowe's:
Paint is Valspar Tint Base 1, tint number 7002-16, Swiss Coffee. The primer is Valspar latex interior multi-surface primer/sealer, number 260948 white.
Handles were also bought at our local Lowe's store.

Crafty Gals Corner Challenges #218 - Easter/Spring

Hello, everyone! And welcome to another new challenge over at Crafty Gals Corner Challenge Blog! For this month, our theme is..................

Easter / Spring

And our amazing sponsors for this challenge are:
(in alphabetical order)

Prize ~ $10 Gift Certificate

Prize: 3 Digital Stamps

So for this challenge, my sister had given me some duplicate pieces that she was going to throw away. Instead, she decided that I could probably make something with the pieces and gave them to me. Each piece was about 4"x6" and looked like they had windows (2 windows), so I treated them as such and made a little "Garden Window Card".

I used my Spectrum Noir Tri-Blend markers to do all the coloring of my digital. I then stenciled "brick" onto one of the pieces to mimic the "outside wall" of the card. Then, I placed acetate on the back of the brick wall, added "wall paper" (Eat Play Love Paper Packet and then glued the whole piece onto the last "window" section to give it stability.

Once that was done, I was able to put my images on the top so it'd look like there was perhaps a flower garden outside next to the windows with a beautiful butterfly!

Here is my finished project:

Well, there you have it! I hope that you enjoy my little window card! And I really hope that you will join us in this month's challenge! Have a great day and thank you for stopping by!
