Valentine Topiary
I love topiaries! But this is the first time I've made one for Valentines. It was a Pinterest inspired challenge over at the Chic Craftique Facebook page. Here it is:
I wasn't sure at first how to go about it, but finally decided....hello, Jeanie!....get a clay pot and paint it....go from there! I used Gesso to prep my surface. Before I added the laces, I worked on the heart...hot gluing laces and ribbon on, and also wrap pearl lace down the dowel. I added styrofoam to the pot and added the "grass" on top of that. I placed that into the pot. I trailed ribbon down and behind the butterfly I had added to the front of the pot. My next step was to add the laces and rose ribbon around the pot, then hot glue a heart onto the front of the pot.
Sometimes when I start a project, I tend to make it harder on myself than necessary. But this was actually quick and easy to do. I have it sitting on top of my buffet now....I may put it up long after Valentine's Day has come and gone! ;-)
Blessings,

What a gorgeous project! I also love topiaries. There's just something about them that add elegance to a room. I would also keep mine up for longer than Valentine's Day. The lace and pearls and the soft colours you used are beautiful and makes it a very elegant and romantic home decor item!
