Beautiful greens, right?? But there is a TWIST: ADD A CACTUS

So now here is my card:

I used my Silhouette Cameo 3 to cut out my cactus and my sentiment. I thought "Hug Me" was just so cute to put there! And I added 4 layers of greens underneath my cactus. The dark area around the cactus form is actually a very dark green (looks black, but trust me, it is green!).

Outlawz Color Challenge June 19, 2018

Hello once again, fellow crafters! I'm here to share with you this week's The Outlawz Color Challenge and my project! What a beautiful board to play with! This week's twist is: Add a Circle! Now let me show you the card I made:

For the life of me, I cannot find where I got this image. I searched and searched, and found no watermark or signature. So if you recognize it, please let me know by sending me a link to their site! 

As you can see, my main colors are the turquoise, the green, and the lilac colors. And I do have a circle, it's just scalloped! If you look closer, I did an embossing with dragonflies within little circles. Pretty cool, I thought!

Outlawz Color Challenge June 13th

Hi, crafters! Can you believe we're already in the 6th month of the year....wait! Wasn't it just a New Year? I can't believe how fast it's going! My dad always told me, the older you get the faster time goes. I sure believe him now.

Anyway, it's time for another challenge over at The Outlawz Color Challenge. Our sponsor for this month is Digistamps4Joy (DS4J).

Now let's take a look at the Tic Tac Toe board for this challenge. I love how this board has a LOT of options in each of the photo squares. A great variety! Here it is:

For my card, I decided I'd go with the Middle Row down. My inspiration was several factors...and of course colors. I used Black, White, Lavender, Pink, and Beige. Then there are the pearls, lace, and roses.

I used my Silhouette Portrait to cut out my image, then colored it with my Prismacolors. I also printed out a designer dressform paper pattern using my SIL. Black cardstock was my base foundation, then I added the designer paper, lace, pearls, sentiment, and the rose (handmade by me).

The Outlawz Color Challenge June 6th

Hellllllloooooo, crafters! Me again! Here today to share with you another new challenge for The Outlawz Color Challenge!  For this week, yours truly here got to pick the Photo Inspiration. I saw this image and thought...Wow! I love Peacocks anyway, so this was a great find for me.

Now for the photo! I especially love all the colors in it! 

Isn't he a beauty (or is it a she)? So, I knew exactly what I wanted to do for this card. Here is my card:

I found this awesome free image on a website called Cool2BKids.com. They offered free coloring pages for kids. I'm thinking...THIS IS AN AWESOME IMAGE! And it fit perfectly with the landscaping of the photo inspiration. So I cut and colored my image (colored with Prismacolors), set that aside, and proceeded to make the flowers for my card. I love making flowers. Sometimes my hands won't cooperate with me because of the arthritis, but sometimes they do fine. 

Once I got done making the flowers, I mounted photo mats on top of my card base, then the peacock, and added all the decorations to the card. And it was done!

Outlawz Color Challenge May 30th

Howdy, crafty pardners! It's time once again for another Color Challenge over at The Outlawz! Our sponsor for this month is the amazing Mari Digis Designs!

Here is the Photo Inspiration from one of our Design Team Members, Cara:

If you'll enlarge the inspiration photo, you'll see that the Twist is At the Seaside. I love the colors in this photo! It's so serene! Now here is my card:

I chose to do a Lighthouse for this project, because that's the first thing I thought of when I saw the photo inspiration. So I went searching for a Lighthouse....and came across a new digital store for me, Oak Pond Creations. I hop that this store continues on designing, as I noticed the last time they blogged was in December of last year. Thankfully, the digitals are still available to order. Yay! Keep up the good work, Oak Pond!

About the Process:

I cut out my image first, then colored it in. I then took a piece of white cardstock that would fit around the lighthouse and give me room to put a sentiment on it. I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks to color in the background, making circular motions and using two colors. I mounted the Lighthouse onto the newly colored paper and added the seagulls at the top and the sentiment. Then I mounted that cardstock onto the tan background and onto the white base card foundation.

After I did all that, I took Stickles and colored in various places of the lighthouse and the light illuminating from the Lighthouse.

The Outlawz Color Challenge - May 23rd

Hello, fellow crafty pardners! I'm so glad you stopped by! Today starts the new Color Challenge over at The Outlawz!   And our sponsor for the month of May is Mari Digis Designs.

Here is our Theme for this week: Monochromatic! I love monochromatic! It can be any color, as long as it's in the same color family. Here is a sample of color:

One of our DT's used these colors, and it looks fantastic! Now on to my card:

I'm not one to really say, wow! I love the card I just made! But I really do like this one! The colors came together quite well! I was concerned that the butterfly colors wouldn't work, but they matched almost perfectly! 

Of course, I normally start out with coloring a digital if I use one, then make my card base. But in this case, I made my butterfly the day before. I had actually made 2, but only needed one on the card. I used a Tim Holtz butterfly die which has an embossing butterfly with the die. I used white card stock for the embossed part and black for the intricate die. (TIP: Placing the die onto a couple of folded fabric softener sheets and then running it through your machine will help pull the excess pieces away from the die once you cut it onto your card stock.) Once I had both pieces cut out, I adhered them with my Art Glitter Glue, then took colored Stickles in various places of the butterfly, including the body. After that dried, I used Glossy Accents all over the butterfly and sprinkled diamond glitter glass from Reneabouquets.  I let that set overnight. I wish you could see the sparkle in this butterfly!

I made the card base out of white and distressed it with TH distressing inks. I cut out a piece of printed card stock into the form of what looks like a "K" and a slim piece to put underneath it on the left side of the "K". I used my distressing tool to distress each side of the paper. 

I hot glued a piece of lace on top of the printed card stock, then some white twine in the center on top of that. I placed some white leaves and pearls sprays, then added the flower. Lastly, I hot glued my butterfly onto the card, next to the flower.

Outlawz Color Challenge April 18th

Hello, crafters! We started a new COLOR CHALLENGE over at The Outlawz today! And I love the colors in the Tic Tac Toe photo inspiration! Here it is:

Photo Inspiration

For my project, I decided I'd do a Mixed Media canvas, using the top left to bottom right colors and embellishments: pink - lace; lavender - pearls; and green - bling. One of my very favorite things to do are Mixed Media and making Tags! Now for my project:

For my canvas, I began by spreading Gesso all over it so it would get a good primer base. At this point, I'm not sure if I'm going to paint directly on it, or use scrapbooking paper. In the end, I decided to use designer cardstock. As with any mixed media, you can start with one thing and totally end up a different way. While my paper doesn't show much, it still gave me a good base to go with. I used an acrylic stamp in various places on the canvas, then I covered it with rose stencils by Tim Holtz. I sprayed different colors of mists. For the clock, I wet embossed it using a copper color by Zing! 

The applique in the bottom right is made by KPKre8tions. The butterflies are made by Reneabouquets. These 2 ladies offer some really great product and are in my faves!!

Outlawz Color Challenge April 4th, 2017

Hello, crafty peeps! We are starting a new COLOR CHALLENGE over at the Outlawz today! And for this week our sponsor is Createful Heart Digis!  Mary has some awesome digis over there, so be sure to check her shop out! 

So what are we going to do this week's colors in? Well, take a look at the photo! Isn't it adorable! Those little chickies are just so cute! There is a twist: Add an animal.

Now here is my card. I used the Dragonfly 'Hi' digital. Now, the color of the little chick was more of a purple plum color to me, on my monitor screen, so...since I didn't have the plum...I chose purple. The color swatch has more of a lilac, but I saw purple. That's okay...just keep in the same color scheme. If I had seen more of lilac, I would have done that. So, what do you see in your colors?

I'm not going to go into a lot of detail about the "how-to" of the card, but I did use my diecuts for the sentiment and the lattice, plus cut out the base card and image with my Silhouette. Then it was a matter of putting it all together.

Photo Inspiration

Now, about my card. I decided I'd do an easel card for this week. I've done a few here lately, but this one was just slightly different in that the back piece is larger. The photo led me to trying to make a stain glass window for the back. I've done 1 before, and it worked great! Only this time, I didn't have all the materials I used last time. So, I improvised. While it looked okay, it sure didn't "float my boat". I decided to take that piece and cut out a butterfly with my Big Shot.  

I may be able to explain to you somewhat how I did it, but it was quite an accident that it worked! Lol! But I did use distress inks to paint strips of colors on heavy vellum from Paper Temptress. Then I used a black marker to make various lines through the different colors to make squares, rectangles....as you seen in the inspiration photo. I also left some white. I then put a clear sticky sheet over the "stain glass", but....since I wasn't happy with the result, I decided to go ahead cut out a butterfly, just to see if it would look better in another form. It worked! What I discovered was that there was a stickiness to that side with the colors! Maybe I put it on wrong...I'm not sure. But, I made it work by sprinkling very fine white glitter over the butterfly, shake off the excess, and rubbed the remainder into the butterfly to make it stick better. I was pretty happy with it by that time!

It was after the butterfly that I colored my image, Hello Bunny, from Digistamps4joy. She's adorable! I once again used my Prismacolors to color her in. I cut her out using my Silhouette Portrait and also cut out the easel card and it's mounting pieces with it. Then it was a matter of putting all the layers together and embellishing it.

Gorgeous colors, aren't they? And for this challenge, you must chose at least 3 out of the 5 colors. Here is the project I did:

I decided to do an Easter/Spring Basket. I thought the colors would be perfect for it! So I found a tutorial on YouTube and went with that. 

I used my Prismacolors to color up my image. The butterflies you see are some that I did using heavy vellum from the Paper Temptress, and the flowers were a part of a prize I won on Holley's blog. Here is the tutorial on the butterflies: Here.
