The Power of Practice Card Blog Hop!

Hello, fellow crafters....that means YOU! And welcome to the
POWER OF PRACTICE BLOG HOP!
In this Blog Hop, you will see designers who have come a long ways in their card making skills! (Below is the list of the line-up of designers). Take a look at their beginnings and where they are today. And now....

For those who are just starting out in your card making, I have something very important to tell you....PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE! Yep, that's what I said. If you have a desire to start making cards or you've already just started, BRAVO for you! And if you look at your card and say...UGH! This sure isn't as good as the others I've seen! Well, take heart, my crafty friend....everyone has had to start somewhere! So don't give up! All it takes is practice. Even if it's just a few minutes a day or week....DON'T GIVE UP!

So, let me share with you a card I made for my first Design Team project (I'm actually surprised they accepted me). I totally was learning...totally! Here it is (from My Besties):

Now, while this isn't my very first card...I have no idea where that is...it is one of my very first cards! I was learning at that time how to actually color the images. The fancy fold design was ok, but that coloring! I had a lot to learn! And, I'm still on that Design Team!

Here is one of my most recent cards I made using an image from Stephanie Sybile Art:

One of the things I did as I went along, was look at a lot of YouTube, Pinterest, and fellow designers to get ideas and tutorials on how to color, adjust the size of images, and so on. And then I'd practice doing those things. After doing thousands and thousands of cards...okay, maybe not thousands...I have come a long way, but I am still practicing. There is always room for improvement! But the point is, DON'T GIVE UP! If it's truly something you want to do, then it's important that you KEEP GOING!

Now here is the Line-Up for the Designers who are participating in this hop. Be sure to check them all out...some may have prizes!

Outlawz Color Challenge - June 4th, 2019

Hello crafters! Today The Outlawz began a new fortnight Color Challenge! And I must admit...I LOVE the challenge! (insert *wink wink* here.....cause I chose the challenge!! hahaha.) I really had a great time with it! But before we go on, here is our amazing sponsor for the month of June:

Here is the Photo Inspiration:
I've enlarged the photo so you could see the colors better. Isn't she beautiful?? And I love the colors! Now here is my card:
I did this card a little differently than I normally have done in the past. I wanted to use as many of the colors as possible in the inspiration, so I took some Deco Foil and heated it onto my card foundation, then I added a strip of glitter Washi tape in the middle, adding some embellishments on the card with a sentiment. The ballerina is from Imagine That; She was a silhouette that I also foiled and added a "tutu" on her with an embellishment for her "belt". I love the way she turned out!

I hope that you will join us for this challenge! Most of all, have fun with it!! Thanks for stopping by!

Crafty Gals Corner Challenge #191 - May Flowers

Hello, crafters! And welcome to another Crafty Gals Corner Challenge! I'm here today to share with you my project as a Designer with Crafty Gals. The theme for this challenge is: May Flowers (Incorporate flowers in your project)

Our sponsor for this challenge is:
Prize: 3 Digital Stamps

I hope that you will join us and share your project! Now, take a look at mine:
I admit I have used this digital, The Ladyonce before, but she's such a fun digital I had to take a go at her again! I used my Spectrum Noir color markers on her. I also used papers from The Paper Temptress. I took a Sizzix Die Cut that add flowers and leave on it, and placed it behind her. I forgot to angle the die cut to get more of the floral to show, but you can still see some peeking through. I layered it on top of the white, and then added my colored digital. I then sprayed some liquid adhesive on after I placed her on top, and then sprinkled a little glitter on. Then I added the flower and floral lace to the side.

I hope that this will inspire you to create! And thank you for stopping by!

The Outlawz Color Challenge Week of October 23rd!

Hello, crafters! Well, after being absent for what seems to have been an eternity....I am back creating with The Outlawz Color Challenges!  There has been a lot going on in my life, and still happening, but it is time to get going again! So for my first project, I chose this cute little mermaid! But first, here is our amazing sponsor for the month of October:

Now here is our Color Challenge for this week: Shades of Blue

What a beautiful array of blues! Now on to my mermaid card:

She's such a cutie! The rhinestones below are really a brighter blue than what they show up as here, more like the ones above her head (I used those as her bubbles).

I hope that you will join us for this week's challenge! We love seeing all the wonderful talent out there! And thanks for stopping by!

Papercraft Business Challenge #9 - August! Optional-Summer

Hello, crafters! Today begins a new challenge over at the Papercraft Business Challenge Blog - #9! This time it's Anything Goes with an optional SUMMER theme. And we have a new prize for the winner of the August challenge! Here it is:
Jillibean Soup - Sunshine Stamp

What a great stamp set that is! You'll want to try for this one! ;) Now for my project:

I got this amazing kit from a website store, Crafty City, the Balkon Royal:
To me, sitting on a balcony just screams summer! So I thought I'd take this awesome kit and see what I could do with it! So here it is:
FRONT

ANGLED VIEW

BACK

GARDEN CLOSE-UP
COLLAGE

Wow! What a project it turned out to be! Not because it was hard, but because it took more time to decorate it than I thought. But once I got started with it, there was no stopping me! I really had to "control" myself so as to not overcrowd it. *wink*

For the outside of the balcony, I wanted to create something that looked like it was starting to loose it's "stucco" coating, revealing what used to be a brick siding. Although it was already white, I further whitened it by painting white acrylic paint on it. I then made some homemade paste and "spackled" it onto the siding, AFTER I had used a stencil to put on the brick part of the balcony. I did the same thing on the inside.

And then I thought I'd go to my fave craft store, and buy some "garden fairy" elements, such as the bird on the bird bath, the bird bath, and the pot of greenery. The bench on the balcony is actually from a miniature doll house furniture accessory. I found some flowers on sale at the store, and used that with it's ivy to wrap around the balcony. I put in some moss in the garden areas and set in the bird bath with a stone sign on the ground that says "Welcome". The fence is from the craft section of the store.

The flooring of the balcony has scrapbook paper on it and the steps that look like wood planks so I used that to make it look like more realistic.

I hope you enjoyed my little process! Thank you for stopping by! Be sure to join in on the fun!

Papercraft Business Challenge #5 - April

Welcome to our newest Challenge! For the month of April challenge the theme is: Anything Goes (Optional: Birthday – For an extra entry to WIN the prize).

The winning prize will be this cute stamp set: Lawn Fawn – Duh Nuh

Isn't it just adorable?? Wouldn't you love to be the winner of this prize? Now let me show you what I did for the Anything Goes - Birthday twist:

While my card is not on the "whimsical" side, it is, however, a birthday card for some lovely lady, young or old. I did several layers with pearls and flowers for my embellishments, plus added a cut-out "postage" stamp on the bottom right corner of my card.

Now it’s your turn. What are you going to share with us so that you have the chance at winning the prize? Remember, if you would like TWO chances at winning the prize, you need to create a project using this months challenge theme: Birthday.

See you there! And thanks for stopping by!

Createful Heart Digis and Designs Challenge #13!

Hello, crafters! Today started a new Challenge over at the Createful Heart Digis and Designs Challenge Blog! We hope you will join us! This month, it's ANYTHING GOES with an Optional Twist: Add Lace. I LOVE lace! So of course, it was no option for me...I did it! So here's my card:
For my card, I decided to go with the Ahna digital. I love the vintage look, so this image was perfect for it. And of course, adding lace even better! While my lace is on the bottom of the card, I thought her neckline also looked a little lacy, so I left that with only a black edging. The cherry blossoms on the bottom right were flowers I had made, while the leaf applique was from KPKre8tions . She has some wonderful product there.

I discovered something new (for me anyway). I'm now using Bristol paper to color in my images, and it actually seems to be working so much better than the paper I had before. So I printed her on the paper, colored her, and then hand cut her out (my SIL mat was messed up, so needless to say I sure missed it cutting out the digital for me!).

I sure hop you will join us for the blog challenge! Thanks for stopping by!
